Why I Love the Thor, the God of Thunder

Yes I love Thor, yes he makes me giggle when he comes on screen, when he talks, and when he doesn't have his shirt on, and when he throws his cup down and asks for "Another!" I so wish I could serve him some coffee. My husband knows this, he had no problem accepting it and he laughs at me when I can't hold it in even when I try. He figures if my crush is on a fictional character that wears a red cape, lives on a planet far far away and is in love with Natalie Portman he doesn't have much to worry about, its not like its my next door neighbor. So for Christmas he was kind enough to purchase Thor and The Avengers for me...giggle fest for mommy!! I just to clarify that my love of Thor goes beyond that, I am after all, an action loving, superhero story line nerd and Thor fulfills those needs as well as the girly side of me. The side that loves being swept off my feet like Jane, and that used to not only used to run around with a sheet around my neck for a cape but also couldn't help but notice that Superman had nice big muscles when I was a little girl. Ok, who am I kidding, I still jump at the chance to wear a cape whenever the occasion calls.
Thor fell for the girl with brains, Jane is beautiful, but not in the bombshell, over photo shopped, over plastic surgery way. She is the girl next door, she is a nerd, she doesn't put much into her hair, she doesn't wear high heels everywhere she goes (although I'm sure she would pull out some amazing heels if the occasion called). Yes she falls into the "Save me Thor" role in the second Thor but hey can you blame her? She was overtaken by an alien force that was pure evil, and she was just trying to use her super smart brain to find Thor as any of us would. Thor does his superhero duty and saves her, along with a ton of other people that would have died had he not performed his calling as son of Odin. He talks like a gentleman, kisses her on the hand, shows gratitude for everything that anyone does for him and all the while battling Loki and whatever is sent his way with his trusty hammer, Mjolnir, and in a red cape, or shirtless depending on the scene.
So thank you Thor for being a gentleman, for showing that being cocky and full of yourself does not get you the throne, for choosing Jane over the throne and being loyal even though you were separated from her for waaaay more miles than anyone should ever have to be separated from their true love. And of course, thank you for working out so much so that you can be fit enough to save the world.
